Colored Pencil Drawing on Paper
This is a drawing that I created late summer 2021 during my summer vacation at the Jersey Shore. I was on the beach drawing with a lot of familar faces from the past dispersed around me in beach chair huddles. I felt elated creating in front of a beautiful blue ocean on a warm summer day but also stressed due to the social pressures surrounding me. I feel that stress coming out in this drawing expecially with the small face hiding behind the mask and the stressed look on the larger face. Its that feeling of not fitting in that was the driving factor in this situation for me. There are people who focus on exclusivity versus inclusivity and that can be very hurtful.
